Maintaining an elephant is a very expensive affair because we need to supply a large amount of food (leaves), water and have to pay the elephant caretaker,” said Janaka. “Elephant ride is the only source of income that we can do with elephants and it helps us to earn the money required to maintain these animals,” said Janaka.
